Howdy,

For whatever it's worth; affinis Vesper Sparrows arrived about a week
early this year and appear to be present in typical numbers (less than ten
individuals) at the Cassidy Airport, south of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.
This is the only known remaining breeding location in Canada. Single birds
have been noted at other locations on SE Vancouver Island and the Gulf
Islands in the last few years, but it has been more than twenty years since
nesting has been confirmed anywhere outside of the Cassidy site.
thanks,
Guy L. Monty
