A pair of CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS in northwestern Whitman Co, seen first on 23
May by Scott Downes and Diane and Tom Weber, were seen again on 28 May by
Ken Knittle. Location is on the George Knott Road, approximately 2 miles
west of Texas Lake in the last big tract of sagebrush in the county. The
area contains a grouping of cottonwoods with a small pond hidden from the
road in the shallow drainage. The sagebrush is south of the road and the
birds were in the western section of the sage. WA DeLorme 72, D-1.

A BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER was at the East Beach of Soap Lake, Grant Co WA, on 2
June according to Doug Schonewald. Soap Lake is north-northeast of Moses
Lake. WA DeLorme 68-69, A right on the crease.

On 5 June a MARBLED GODWIT was at Mann Lake, East of Lewiston, Nez Perce Co
ID according to Charles Swift. When entering Lewiston from the north, take
US 12 across the Clearwater River. At the first traffic light on the south
side of the river, head up 21st Street. It turns into Thain. When Thain goes
from 4 lanes to 2, turn left on Powers Avenue. Follow it several miles to
the grain towers and the lake. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.
