It just broke my heart to hear this. I hope you are able to get help for

Steller's jays like to eat seeds. They especially like the tiny red ones
that come in birdseed mixes (they resemble radish seeds, but I don't
know what they are), dried corn, and raw (uncooked, unsalted) peanuts.
They don't like millet or sunflower seeds. They will occasionally eat
bugs and suet. They are very intelligent and feisty (they'll try to bite
you to protect themselves).

I'm crossing my fingers that you've found help by now. Steller's jays
are survivors. Because of their intelligence, they can make it with
certain disabilities. If you can get the leg set by a professional and
find a way to feed him for a few weeks, he may have a chance.
