The fledged young avocets and stilts seen at Sheep Lake while not rare, are
I believe first breeding records for Whitman County (someone please correct
me if I am wrong!). Someone at the WOS conference was also mentioning
fledged young of both these species at Hatton Coulee rest area on Friday
(Adams County)

Surprisingly these species have not nested yet (as far as I know) in
northern Idaho. They are regularly seen into June here (for e.g. a number of
both species at Mann Lake on Sat. 6/6). It's only a matter of time though
and finding the location conducive to nesting!
