While surveying for spotted sandpipers on the lower Duwamish River in
Seattle today, we found several in the vicinity of Kellogg Island, as
expected, plus a few more in the rip rap of the most industrialized areas of
the river. The highlight this morning was the sight of two ospreys perched
on the roof top of an old building just upstream of the 14 ave bridge, in
the close presence of two peregrine falcons perched on the same roof, all
within about 100 feet. Overhead a bald eagle was soaring.

At Terminal 105 and at Kellogg Island it appeared that there were at least
three pairs of purple martins at each site. They could be heard at the
Harbor Island Marina at 5am.
