.....well, for me at least.
Greetings Tweets,
Because I'm now driving a new route to and from work, I keep discovering spots that weren't there until I found them......if you follow my thinking.
The "new" one this time is the northeast corner of Lakewood Drive and Steilacoom Blvd in NE Lakewood. For those of you more familiar with Tacoma, Lakewood Drive is just Orchard Street after it got a little too far south.
In a 40 minute spot this afternoon around 4 PM, in a field of tall grass and Oaks, I spotted 2 ducks; one a nest-sitting female Hooded Merganzer, and 20 passerines.
The "song" birds included:
Western Wood Pewee, Willow, Hammond's and Pac-Slope Flycatchers, Steller's Jay and TWO Scrub Jays, Crow,Tree Swallow, BC Chickadee, Bushtit, BR Nuthatch, Robin, Cedar Waxwing, Starling, Black Headed Grosbeak, Towhee, Song and White Crowned Sparrows, Red-winged BB, and a pretty male Goldfinch.
Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprized!
