Hi tweeters,
I had always thought that Red-eyed Vireos were
uncommon, even rare here in western washington. Most
of this was from the scrutiny I encountered after
having ID'd one doing point counts in 1996.
Last week I had one near Hamilton, and emailed Gary
Blesch as he is from that general area, and he said
more or less, " Oh yeah, they should be coming any day
now", So this is a bird to be expected. I had a pair
fledge three young at my house last year in Maple
Falls, and thought it was a big deal and felt bad for
not notifying Whatcom Co. listers, I guess it's not
that big of a deal.
Had I read any of my recently published field
guides I would have realized this much sooner.
Amazing what you learn when you read!!
Anyway, I hear REVI's everyday now up here, and
have two males duking it out at my place. They are a
great bird, even if to be expected??
Good Birding,
Drew Wheelan
