Hi Steve and Tweeters:
These Motorola Model T4900AA radios DO have the privacy codes (subchannels). I got online and read the specs on these, and they do have the 38 codes for each channel. Unfortunately, all the new radios being sold in the last year or so are the kind like this that combine FRS frequencies and GMRS frequencies. We who only use FRS which does not require a licence, can use channels 7 through 14, with 38 codes for each of these channels. This gives you 266 choices, and includes Channel 11, Code 22 the universal birder's channel.

Greetings Again

I prefer the FRS radios that allow you to choose subchannels. The ones that Lynn mentions gives but a few channels to use, and these sometimes have a ridiculous amount of voice traffic. Sorry for not knowing the correct terms, but the radios with subchannels (I usually use 11/22) allow you to have more privacy. They're a bit more expensive, but worth it.

Cheers
SteveM
