The dawn chorus starts at around 4:03am at the moment, I have been out at
3:30am to get to various sites to record them, the first birds are calling
on average at around 4:03am and then into a cacophony a few minuets later,
very often the American Robin will open the first peep notes, Swainson's
thrushes, Willow flycatchers, Spotted Towhees, and so on, depending on where
you are, it is a wonderful experience to get up at this time to listen (or
record)

don't know about the swallows but,

I had to let one of the dogs out at 4:00 am and there were birds songs
already, don't ask what kind, way to early, but if I was to guess it would
be a robin.
