after several days pounding on death's door, it was nice to get out to the
park once again...

the killdeer pair have hatched their brood and, until a loud and
unrespectful convention formed while i was photographing, were relatively
unstressed... i would personally love to inject some wildlife photography
manners into at least one other "photographer", preferably with a large,
dirty, pointy stick at high velocity... ahh, fantasies...

pied-billed grebes on the cove: the two chicks are healthy and active, and
parents are STILL sitting on at least one egg (probably infertile)... no
telling how long before they abandon it... a host of BAEA surfing the winds
on the bay...

"eastern" boardwalk, at the dogleg: lots of cedar waxwings (becoming a
regular staple), more than a few robin juveniles, a few downy woodpeckers, a
pretty northern flicker, and our black-headed grosbeak (only heard)... of
course, the usual suspects (RWBL, EUST, SOSP, AMRO, AMCR, TRES, BARS,
etc)... whitewall (the partial albino RWBL) not seen, though, for the first
time in a very long time...

also seen: two adult red-breasted sapsuckers, about 30 yards into the
brush, feeding a youngster on a branch (did the photo come out?), left of
willow L at dogleg...
