Sightings for Sunday, June 13 - 9:45 PM update.

*RARE BIRD ALERT for ALDER FLYCATCHER (Salmon Arm)

Featured Birds include:

BLACK-NECKED STILT (Kelowna)
FORSTER'S TERN (Salmon Arm)

Other birds mentioned include:

American Redstart
Greater Yellowlegs
Solitary Sandpiper
Pectoral Sandpiper
CASPIAN TERN
Spruce Grouse


Sightings for June 13

The ALDER FLYCATCHER could not be relocated at the intersection of Hwy 6 and
Learmouth Road in Lavington, but a singing male was found along the path to
Christmas Island in Salmon Arm (CC). The bird was singing from power lines
along the railroad track that parallels the path between the parking area
and the outhouse.

Also in Salmon Arm, two adult FORSTER'S TERNS were seen from the pier (CC).

Numerous male AMERICAN REDSTARTS were in the riparian woods along Sandy
Point Road, just W. of Salmon Arm (CC).

In Kelowna, BLACK-NECKED STILT nesting was confirmed at Alki Lake (RT). This
is the breeding record for the Okanagan. Also at Alki were some lingering
shorebirds including a GREATER YELLOWLEGS, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER and a
PECTORAL SANDPIPER (RT).


Sightings for June 12

An ALDER FLYCATCHER was discovered E. of Vernon, near the community of
Lavington, at the intersection of Hwy 6 and Learmouth Road (DC). The bird
was calling beside the road and was present from the morning through to the
evening.


Sightings for June 10

A female SPRUCE GROUSE was in a clearcut along the Shuttleworth Ck Road, E.
of Ok Falls, at km 15 (PC).

On the 9th a pair of BLACK-NECKED STILTS were discovered at Alki Lake at the
Kelowna Dump (RT). Also there was a very late SOLITARY SANDPIPER and a late
GREATER YELLOWLEGS (RT).

Earlier in the week two CASPIAN TERNS were foraging over Okanagan Lake at
Sutherland Bay in Kelowna's North End (GW). Also in the North End, a first
year male AMERICAN REDSTART was in a garden along Herbert Heights Road (GW).
