A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was seen in northern Idaho on 9 Jun by John Weber.
This one-day wonder was observed along Vista Drive at the golf course and
was the first record since 1895.

At least one of a pair of singing CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS in northwestern
Whitman Co, seen first on 23 May by Scott Downes and Diane and Tom Weber,
was heard again on 6 Jun by Scott Downes. Location is on the George Knott
Road, approximately 2 miles west of Texas Lake in the last big tract of
sagebrush in the county. The area contains a grouping of cottonwoods with a
small pond hidden from the road in the shallow drainage. The sagebrush is
south of the road and the birds were in the western section of the sage. WA
DeLorme 72, D-1.

In northeastern Oregon, Mike and MerryLynn Denny report a hooting BARRED OWL
at Langdon Lake along OR 204 near Tollgate, Umatilla Co, OR on 5 Jun.

An adult GREAT GRAY OWL was at Fields Spring State Park, Asotin Co, WA on 5
Jun according to Mike and MerryLynn Denny. The park is along WA 129 south of
Asotin. WA DeLorme 43, D-7.

Terry Gray and a WOS field trip found a GRAY FLYCATCHER on Mica Mt near
Deary, Latah Co ID on 5 Jun. This bird was apparently a one day wonder.

On 5 Jun, Jane Westervelt and a WOS field trip observed a BAND-TAILED PIGEON
near St Maries, Bonner Co ID. It was visiting the yard at 89181 ID 3, a bit
past mile marker 89 as you leave St Maries. Drive all the way up the road to
the last house, Dan and Laurie Stachow. They ask that you don't come to
early, too late, or during dinner.

A probable LEAST FLYCATCHER was along Shady Lane, just south of Rose Lake,
Kootenai Co ID on 5 Jun, according to Jane Westervelt. Take I-90 east from
Coeur d'Alene to exit 24 and head south on ID 3. Go about 3 or 4 miles or
so to Rose Creek Road at milepost 113.8. You can pull in and park here or
go another 0.25 mile to Shady Lane. In between these 2 roads is a nice
cottonwood/Quaking Aspen grove that's part of the CdA WMA, open to the
public, and an annual spot for this species. ID DeLorme BC-3 and Chain Lakes
Route on p. 56 of The Birders' Guide to Idaho.

On 10 Jun, Tom Arosa (sp?) reports a couple of eastern WA LEAST FLYCATCHERS.
The first was in Lincoln Co, about 0.5 mile north of Adams Co along Danekas
Road. There's an old quarry on the east side of the road with a small grove
of aspens and a singing bird. Danekas runs along the southeast side of
Sprague Lake. WA DeLorme 71, B-8. The other bird was along Lyons Ferry Road
in Franklin Co. About 1 mile south of WA 260, heading up hill on WA 261,
there's a grove of willows on the north/east side of the road with a big
snag and Red-tailed Hawk nest, along with a singing bird. WA DeLorme 55,
C-5.

The COMMON GRACKLE reported from Liberty Lake, Spokane Co WA this past
winter, was reported again on 12 Jun by Gina Sheridan. The bird was on the
golf course on the southeast corner of Molter and Valleyview. Ron Dexter
then added that the bird has been around "all last year and this year" and
that he sees it every time he golfs, 2 or 3 times each week, between the 1st
and 9th fairways near Meadowwood Clubhouse. WA DeLorme 88, C-8.

Bob Flores reports a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD at the intersection of McManoman
and Seeps Lakes roads on 14 Jun, several miles west of Para Ponds in Grant
Co (?) WA. He thinks this may be the same bird Randy Hill reported a couple
of weeks ago at the Seeps Lakes Road and Potholes Canal which is just
several miles to the north. WA DeLorme 53, AB-6.5.

If you have any questions about birds on the report, call me before 9 pm at
208.883.0943. If you see any of the birds mentioned in this report, be sure
to let me know.

Good birding.
