Sightings for Tuesday, June 15th

The VEERY was again heard singing along the Grant Narrows dyke
trail in Pitt Meadows, about 200 metres from the beginning of the
dyke,
where the first small log crosses over the trail. Also here was a
singing
first year male AMERICAN REDSTART and 2 GRAY CATBIRDS.
Also at Grant Narrows and elsewhere in Pitt Meadows were 5
BULLOCK'S ORIOLES and 4 EASTERN KINGBIRDS. In Katzie Marsh,
visible from the viewing tower on the Pitt Lake dyke, were 10 male
RING-NECKED DUCKS, and in Pitt Lake were 2 breeding plumaged
COMMON LOONS.

The singing LEAST FLYCATCHER was still present in Pitt Meadows,
along the gated road (Koerner Road?-- unsigned) leading west from
Rannie Road, about 1.5 km north of the Swan-e-set Golf Course
entrance.
A WESTERN KINGBIRD was on the wires along Rannie Road nearby.

Also in Pitt Meadows, along McNeill Road at the Pitoche Nursery, about
200 metres west of Rannie Road, a singing adult male LAZULI
BUNTING was present.

In Vancouver's Everett Crowley Park on Avalon Pond, the GREAT
EGRET was again observed.

Two COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were reported from Byron Road in North
Vancouver.


Sightings for Monday, June 14th

Near the beginning of the Grant Narrows Nature Dyke Trail in Pitt
Meadows, a possible ALDER FLYCATCHER was seen and heard
calling. At the same spot, a VEERY was also heard singing.
These birds were about 200 metres down the trail from the concession
stand, where the first log crosses over the trail. Further down the
dyke were a singing GRAY CATBIRD and an EASTERN KINGBIRD.

The LEAST FLYCATCHER was again reported along the gated road
that is 2km north of the Swan-e-set Golf Course. Take the left dyke
trail and follow it until there is a sharp bend in the trail. The
flycatcher
is singing at the third telephone pole from the bend in the trail.

The GREAT EGRET was again seen in Avalon Pond in Everett Crowley
Park in Vancouver.

The 1st year male AMERICAN REDSTART was again seen heard singing in
the west woods in the Maplewood Conservation Area in North Vancouver.


Sightings for Sunday, June 13th

In Pitt Meadows along Rannie Road at the ecological reserve was
another singing LEAST FLYCATCHER.

At Maplewood Conservation Area in North Vancouver was a first
year male AMERICAN REDSTART.

The GREAT EGRET was again seen at Avalon Pond in Everett Crowley
Park, Vancouver.

Along Highway 17 in Delta, in the pond north of 34B Avenue, was a
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, 2 WILSON'S PHALAROPES, a DUNLIN,
and a LESSER YELLOWLEGS.

At Crescent Park in South Surrey were a singing HUTTON'S VIREO and 2
PILEATED WOODPECKERS.

Colony Farm in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam had 4 LAZULI BUNTINGS,
a WESTERN KINGBIRD, 4 EASTERN KINGBIRDS and a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE.


Sightings for Saturday, June 12th

A LEAST FLYCATCHER was discovered on a gated road running west
from Rannie Road, about 2 km north of the Swan-e-Set Golf Course in
Pitt Meadows. Also along here were 8 EASTERN KINGBIRDS.
At the very beginning of the Grant Narrows Nature Dyke Trail was a
female or imm. male AMERICAN REDSTART. Also in the area were
4 GRAY CATBIRDS. Along McNeill Road about 200 metres west of
Rannie Road was a singing adult male LAZULI BUNTING.

Along Highway 17 in Delta, in the pond north of 34B Avenue, was an
adult breeding plumaged HUDSONIAN GODWIT, a RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE, 5 WILSON'S PHALAROPES and a LESSER
YELLOWLEGS.

In Everett Crowley Park in Vancouver, on the east side of the park in
Avalon Pond, was a GREAT EGRET.

At the foot of 104th Street in Delta, the HOUSE WREN was still singing
on territory.

15 PURPLE MARTINS were reported flying over Burns Bog, Delta.


No sightings reported for Friday, June 11th

Out of town in Victoria, an OVENBIRD was found in Central Saanich. For

Sightings for Wednesday, June 9th

An adult male ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD was seen coming to a feeder in the
West 41st Avenue and Dunbar Street area of Vancouver.


Sightings for Tuesday, June 8th

An adult breeding plumaged singing male AMERICAN REDSTART
was seen in the beginning portion of the Grant Narrows Nature Dyke at
Pitt Meadows.

A RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was seen in the West Pond in Jericho
Park, Vancouver

A group of 3 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS have been on territory for a week on
Salal Road on Burns Island.

At Iona Island, Richmond, there was an EASTERN KINGBIRD near the
washrooms at the outer pond, and a PECTORAL SANDPIPER and 2
WILSON'S PHALAROPES on the sewage ponds.


Sightings for Monday, June 7th

At the base of the Roberts Bank Coal Port Jetty in Delta were 2
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS.

In North Vancouver, along the waterfront at Deep Cove was a
RED-EYED VIREO.

At Gilbert Road and Francis Road in Richmond were 2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS.
