a new piece of the park gallery website, it's "designed" as it were to help
me with identifications that don't fit the book(s) i have... i've been
relying on a local park ranger for most IDs, but i'd like to bother her as
little as possible, keeping her around for the "real important" stuff :)

and she's on this list anyway, so if she wants to help out, so much the
better...

today's "who is this" was located at bob heirman's wildlife park, south of
snohomish... he was seen in dense grasses, about 20 metres off the main
north-south gravel trail... he's plentiful (there are a lot of his singers
in the grasses, both sides of the trail), he's loud and consistent in call
(i'd know it again if i heard it, but my aural transcription memory is
pretty poor yet), and he's pretty secretive.... when i first saw him in
flight, he looked like a tiny raccoon with wings...

the habitat: dense grasses, overgrown, with snags and occasional trees
surrounding... there's a pond about 100 feet away, a lake maybe 100 metres
away, and the snohomish river about .25 miles away... the grasses cover a
substantial portion of this park, ie most of the acreage between connelly
road and the snoho river...

any guesses? his picture is located at http://www.parkgallery.org, then
click on "Who is This"...

thanx, folks!

oh, and no, he's not a greater seattle supersized bushtit superset :) let's
keep our bird IDs in perspective, please (grin)...
