Hello all,

I am plotting a scheme that involves spending some time in California
around the last week of July to visit my girlfriend in Yosemite, and
thought I would tap the vast collective knowlege of the group once more.
The question: are there any reccommendations for birding guide books, or
more specifically, for birding locations within an hour or two of Yosemite
NP, with extra emphasis on Cali endemics (i.e. Magpie, Woodpecker,
Goldfinch, etc.) and nocturnal beasties. I really know nothing of the
area, and I'm sure many others do. Thanks in advance for the superior
