A probable LEAST FLYCATCHER was along Shady Lane, just south of Rose Lake,
Kootenai Co ID on 5 Jun, according to Jane Westervelt. Take I-90 east from
Coeur d'Alene to exit 24 and head south on ID 3. Go about 3 or 4 miles or
so to Rose Creek Road at milepost 113.8. You can pull in and park here or go
another 0.25 mile to Shady Lane. In between these 2 roads is a nice
cottonwood/Quaking Aspen grove that's part of the CdA WMA, open to the
public, and an annual spot for this species. ID DeLorme BC-3 and Chain Lakes
Route on p. 56 of The Birders' Guide to Idaho. Another LEAST FLYCATCHER was
seen on 16 Jun by Ellen Scriven at the intersection of Killarney Lake Road
with ID 3 in Kootenai Co according to Lisa Hardy. This is just south of the
Rose Lake bird.

On 20 Jun Matthew Moskwik found 2 LESAT FLYCATCHERS IN Spokane Co WA along
Iller Creek. Take the Argonne exit south off of I-90, drive about 3.5 miles
to the traffic light at Schafer Road, turn right, go about 0.5 mile, turn
right on 44th Street. Drive about 0.25 mile and turn left on Farr Road,
following it to the end where you turn right and then proceed to the end of
the road. Take the wide trail on the right side of the creek. Gina Sheridan
saw the birds on 21 Jun.

Also in WA, Matthew Moskwik found another LEAST FLYCATCHER in Pend Oreille
Co in an aspen stand. Go north from Usk on Leclerc Creek Road (east side of
the Pend Oreille River). Continue past the tribal headquarters for about 3
miles. Turn west on the gravel driveway and go about 100 yards (if you reach
Cee Cee Ah Road or the Manresa Grotto, you've gone too far) and check the
aspen stand on the right.

On 10 Jun, Tom Aversa reports a couple of eastern WA LEAST FLYCATCHERS. The
first was in Lincoln Co, about 0.5 mile north of Adams Co along Danekas
Road. There's an old quarry on the east side of the road with a small grove
of aspens and a singing bird. Danekas runs along the southeast side of
Sprague Lake. WA DeLorme 71, B-8. The other bird was along Lyons Ferry Road
in Franklin Co. About 1 mile south of WA 260, heading up hill on WA 261,
there's a grove of willows on the north/east side of the road with a big
snag and Red-tailed Hawk nest, along with a singing bird. WA DeLorme 55,
C-5.

The WA COMMON GRACKLE reported from Liberty Lake, Spokane Co WA was reported
again on 20 Jun by Matthew Moskwik. The bird frequents the golf course on
the southeast corner of Molter and Valleyview. WA DeLorme 88, C-8.

An ID COMMON GRACKLE was seen 14 Jun along US 95 just south of Lapwai, Nez
Perce Co ID by Harry Krueger. Harry saw the bird later in the evening with
other blackbirds and starlings just south of the creek that crosses US 95
immediately south of Lapwai.

The Spokane Co WA UPLAND SANDPIPER is back on territory along Deno Road.
Look for it near the power substation west of the intersection of Deno Road
and Hayford Road. If you visit, stay on the roads and don't enter any fields
to limit disturbance to the bird.

It's been a good spring for CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS. Jim Acton found a
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW in Lincoln Co WA along Seven Mile Road, which is west
of Davenport and west of the transfer station. Gina Sheridan saw the bird
this past week. Look for the bird south of the cattle loading shoot on the
south side of Cottonwood Creek and on the west side of Seven Mile. WA
DeLorme 87, C-7.

Bob Bond reports 12 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS near Coolin, Bonner Co ID on 21
Jun. This is a very rare sighting on Priest Lake.

If you have any questions about birds on the report, call me before 9 pm at
208.883.0943. If you see any of the birds mentioned in this report, be sure
to let me know.

Good birding.
