Greetings,
This afternoon I pulled over at the cell tower along Pioneer Way east of
Orting, where it intersects the Kapowsin Highway (Orville Road East). There
was a pair of Western Kingbirds, with nest. The nest is located on the west
leg of the tower, ca. 15 feet up. The pair was active in the area and
visited the nest once. I couldn't tell if there was anything in the nest.
Marcus Roening and Heather Ballash first noted these birds last spring, but
to my knowledge this is the first time they've bred.
Later we took a jaunt up Patterson Road out of Crocker.
