Not necessarily. Digiscoping routinely gets magnifications well in excess
of 30x due to the combination of the magnification of the scope and the
optical zoom of the camera. I routinely digiscope shorebirds at roughly 60x
magnification or more.

Having said that, it's clearly the wave of the future.
