Hi tweeters,

Next week I will be having a 10 day holiday with my girlfriend in Washington. We plan to visit Olympic NP and around Mt Raineer NP (including White Pass and Toppenish NWR) and some wetlands around Seattle.
Most of the trip has been prepared after I bought the excellent ABA "where to watch birds in Washington" guide but I still would like to ask for a little help with some birds:

I really wish to see Hooded Merganzer (seems to be fairly common but I have no clue where to look exactly), Evening Grosbeak (also seems fairly common but seems irruptive), Pileated Woodpecker (also seems fairly common but I have no exact sites), Lewis Woodpecker (I intend to try Toppenish reserve, at fort sinclair??), and finally, do I stand any chance in finding White-tailed Ptarmigan e.g. at Mt Raineer?
