Subject: Common Grackle & Upland Sandpiper directions??

Jim and interested others,
Marvin Cooper and I just returned from the Spokane area where we tried for the sandpiper for 2 days without any luck. We were joined both mornings by local birders, so we had quite a few eyes trying to locate the birds.
The information I can pass on to you comes from Mark Houston. Turn west on to Deno Road from its junction with Hwy 2. You'll go athrough a couple of intersections and will see a power substation on your left (if you cross the railroad tracks you've gone too far). Park there and start to scan all fence posts and power lines. We heard that the bird sometimes can be seen on the fence row that is about 150 yards to the north of Deno Road. Hope this helps.
We did see a Clay-colored Sparrow at the Centennial Trail site, if that is a bird that you are also interested in. And there is a Least Flycather in the area on Argonne Road south of I 90.
Take care.

Subject: Common Grackle & Upland Sandpiper directions??

Hi Tweets,

Marissa Benavente and I will be heading over to Spokane and Pend Oreille
counties for a five day birding trip, starting Friday. Can anyone give
directions to the spots where the Upland Sandpiper and the Common Grackle
have been seen? Even basic directions will be better than nothing.

I know the sandpiper has been seen on ?Deno Rd.?, but nothing more than
that. I understand it is on private property but visible on occasion from
public lands/street.

I will post something to Tweeters if I see either bird ? or anything else of
interest.

Thanks in advance.
