Hi Diane. I have a website for beginner to intermediate birders in B.C. and the site mentions a couple of local guidebooks.

Go to www.birdingfaqs.com

Then "Field Guides"

Then scroll about halfway down that section.

I think your best bet is "The Birder's Guide to Vancouver and the Lower Mainland" (Lower Mainland is local vernacular for the
Greater Vancouver area). Blue book with a Steller's Jay on the cover.

Good luck! Great time of year to be travelling through the Rockies!

Subject: BC Birding Guides

Hi,

I am driving next week from Vancouver BC to Banff and then partway down to
Calgary. I will be with non-birders but hope springs eternal: Can anyone
recommend one or two particularly good birding guides? Are there any local
guides for the Vancouver BC area itself, or for the Sunshine Coast?

Thanks,
