A Seattle Audubon trip on Saturday, Feb 28, to Port Gamble, Oak Bay, Fort Flagler, and return via Point No-Point, though cold and damp, provided our group of seven shivering souls with excellent views of shorebirds (Fort Flagler), a close fly-by of a LONG-TAILED DUCK(Marrowstone Point), and lots of NORTHERN PINTAILS at Oak Bay. For some of us, the trip was highlighted at Fort Flagler by the dozens of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, several hundred DUNLIN, a scattering of SANDERLINGS, and one lone WESTERN SANDPIPER to the next to the parking area at the west side of the peninsula looking toward Port Townsend. Too, some would opt for the excellent views we had of the 35+ TRUMPETER SWANS, together with RING-NECKED DUCKS, GADWALL, MALLARD, and BUFFLEHEAD at a pond along Beaver Valley Road.
