I thought I should forward this to the whole list

Thank you Joanne,

The original plan I came up with a few years ago was to figure a way to
catch the flocks of thousands of Starlings that gather in the fall and
winter to make cat food(or human food if there was a willing market) . This
could then free land from cultivation and associated environmental costs,
such as pesticides, diversion of water for irriagtion and erosion. We might
use cannon shot nets (if you're not familiar with them they shoot weights
attached from the corners to throw the net over the birds). Or how about a
big net dragged through the air by a helicopter? Maybe you could add birth
control drugs to Starlings fed to untrained feral cats.

Hi, Stewart:

Love your plan for Starling control - good for brown-headed cowbirds too!
There are some neighborhood cats I'd like to volunteer for training class.
And, as a great side-effect, could feed the hungry at the same time. Talk
about redeeming social value!

Regards, Joanne
