Tweets,

Yesterday's walk at Nisqually was disappointing and yet exhilarating!

I started at 8:15 under clearing skies, but in a strong wind that continued
all morning. Not much flying around all day and the wind made it difficult for
me to hear whatever was hanging on for dear life in the underbrush. It was the
only time I've been to Nisqually when almost every thing I saw was at eye
level or lower!

Total species for the day was 33, the first day below 40. I was surprised by
the number of NORTHERN PINTAIL I saw. they were more common than MALLARDS. I
did see at least 3 EURASIAN WIGEON near the Twin Barns. The only new bird for
the year was a GREEN HERON in the slough between the Nisqually River Overlook
and the Ring Dike, out beyond the cedar tree.

The other highlight was a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER working on a couple of small
trees just past the Woodland Trail Overlook path on the inside of the
boardwalk.

Hopefully, next Thursday will be a better day with some spring migrants
showing up.

Total for the day: 33 species. Total for the year: 69.
