Hello Tweets,
This morning around sunrise, well it would have been if there was a sun, my wife told me of an Anna's Hummingbird at one of our feeders looking as if was panting. I was off to run errands and didn't even look for it until I returned mid-morning. There it was, a female, sitting on the feeder perch panting with its beak pointed into the air. Every now and then it would feed briefly but not for long as it appeared to need to pant some more.
It looks like it swallowed a golf ball so I am guessing it is about to lay an egg. Does anyone know if this panting is indicative of an imminent egg event?
