Thanks to all the responses to my post earlier today. An official with the US Fish and Wildlife has been given directions to find the bird. I was not previously aware of any requirements to notify anyone. My prior instructions when living in the Midwest was to leave alone and not to collect or disturbed, but never to notify. This is why having all of you as "consultants " keeps this hobby of ours informative. Thanks everyone.
