Wilson Cady got a call about a possible femaile Costa's Hummingbird coming
to a feeder at 4110 NE 54th Ave. in Vancouver, WA. He checked it out today
and thought it to be a Costa's also so he called us and we too think it is
an female (imm.) Costa's Hummingbird. I have posted some digiscoped photos
that were taken rather late in the day.
Photos are on the following webpage.

Eric and Tammy are open to birders viewing this bird while standing on their
lawn. The bird visits the hummingbird feeder over the deck (seen from 54th
Ave.) It also sits in the trees between the feeder and the street (bird is
seen from the yard). Please park on 41st St. off the main road.

The bird has:
Short tail with white tip
Wings almost reaching end of tail
Plump, roundish body and head
Slightly decurved bill

See photo and information in Peterson's Guide to Hummingbirds of North
American page 58-59 on the immature female.
