I would like to thank everyone for their advice on how to keep my Siskins from impacting with my glass sliding doors. With much effort on my part as well as creative decorating, I guess I have overcome the problem of these little birds hitting my glass door. This has, however, created another problem. Today when all the Siskins were munching away at the thistle and sunflower feeders, a jay came by to claim a peanut from its feeder. As usual, the Siskins darted away en masse. I was so pleased when not one Siskin hit my glass door. Instead, one of them flew above the door and hit the wall of the house under the roof of the porch. Now I expect I have found the true cause of Pine Siskin disease. It must come from the limited intelligence of these birds as they knock themselves out on whatever is available. This makes them targets for whatever virus is lurking, waiting to attach itself to some sort of life form. Or maybe it is just Spring Fever and everyone, including the Siskins, are just out enjoying the sunshine and forgetting to pay attention to detail?
