We got our first yesterday evening, as well. A male looking very
vibrant. And we had a mass of swallows diving down and dipping into the
lake for a drink (that's what made my husband and I go out and notice
the Rufous!). I imagine they were Violet-Greens, but were too far out
to get a good look. We could see white underbellies, but we have
several kinds of swallow that nest around here, so no positive ID yet.
