Thank you Abby. This solves a household debate. Which would be better? Mounting them on poles or trees? We were wondering if they would be safer on way or the other?

Hi, Nancy-

Most birds do not want to nest right next to each other. I'd space the houses around your yard, and mount them all separately. Good luck!

Hello Tweeters,
I have a question about mounting 3 bird houses. They are about 1" to 1-1/2" holes. We are thinking of mounting them on a single pole with one flat surface for all three boxes. Is this a good idea or would it be better to mount them all separately? We are not sure if the birds that choose to nest there would fight if the boxes were too close.

Still no rufous hummers here. They have always arrived before now to my recollection. The red flowering currant has just started to bloom.
