Sightings for March 14

The ROCK SANDPIPER was seen again at Lighthouse Marine Park, Point
Roberts, with BLACK TURNSTONES near the lighthouse at 5:30 PM on the
low tide.

The two wintering AMERICAN AVOCETS were seen again at the mouth
of the Serpentine River in Surrey (accessed from Mud Bay Park off
Colebrook Road).

The first RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD of the spring was seen at a Vancouver
feeder today.


Sightings for March 13

The GREAT GRAY OWL was seen again near the duck pond at
Colony Farm, west from Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam.

The ROCK SANDPIPER was reported from Lighthouse Marine Park at Point
Roberts, Washington.

An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen at the intersection of 28th Avenue and
Arthur Drive in Delta, south of Ladner.

A GREAT HORNED OWL was seen at Beach Grove Park in Delta.

Along the Tsawwassen ferry jetty, Delta, were a WILLET and 5 BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS.

The 2 AMERICAN AVOCETS were still at the mouth of the Serpentine River
on Mud Bay in Surrey.

Seven TREE SWALLOWS were seen at Boundary Bay Regional Park in
Delta, as were a SHORT-EARED OWL and a NORTHERN SHRIKE.

Seen at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta were a NORTHERN SAW-WHET
OWL and a BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON.


Sightings for March 12

The ROCK SANDPIPER was seen again at Lighthouse Marine Park, Point
Roberts, with about 25 BLACK TURNSTONES.

The BLUE JAY was seen again in Richmond, at the entrance of the
Horseshoe Slough Trail on Dyke Road, west of No. 5 Road.

A BARRED OWL was seen in Bear Creek Park in Surrey.

A GYRFALCON was seen at the foot of 96th Street on Boundary Bay in
Delta. Also here were 2 MARBLED GODWITS.

An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen in Delta at the junction of Deltaport Way
and Arthur Drive.


Sightings for March 11

A ROCK SANDPIPER was seen at Lighthouse Marine Park in Point
Roberts, Washington. Also here were 25 BLACK TURNSTONES and
8 RHINOCEROS AUKLETS.

The GREAT GRAY OWL was seen again at Colony Farm, Port Coquitlam.


Sightings for March 10

Ten TREE SWALLOWS were seen at Colony Farm, Port Coquitlam.


Sightings for March 9

The GREAT GRAY OWL was reported again along Wesbrook Mall
south of the University of B.C. campus.

At Boundary Bay Regional Park in Delta, a WESTERN MEADOWLARK
and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were reported.


Sightings for March 8

A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was seen in Coal Harbour, Vancouver by
a birder observing from the Bayshore Inn. Also here was a flock
estimated at 7000 LESSER SCAUP.

The GREAT GRAY OWL was seen again at Colony Farm in Port Coquitlam,
near the duck pond west from Shaughnessy Street. It was actively
hunting at about 6:30 PM. Also seen at Colony Farm were a NORTHERN
SHRIKE and an AMERICAN BITTERN.

At Blackie Spit in Surrey, 4 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS were seen.


Sightings for March 7

The WESTERN SCRUB-JAY was reported again at 4126 River Road
in Ladner (Delta), where it has been for months.

Today at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Delta were a HUTTON'S VIREO, 5
SANDHILL CRANES, 2 or 3 BARN SWALLOWS, 4 VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, and a
VIRGINIA RAIL. Two MUTE SWANS were seen
near the Westham Island Bridge in Delta.

The two wintering AMERICAN AVOCETS were seen again at the mouth
of the Serpentine River in Surrey (accessed from Mud Bay Park).

200 SNOW GEESE were seen at the Terra Nova Natural Area, Richmond
(NW corner of Lulu Island).
