Hi Tweeters,

My husband and I were walking on the beach around 10:30 this morning when he
noticed a bird and asked what it was. I watched it a moment and replied that
I thought it was a Say's Phoebe. Neither of us had binoculars. When the bird
flew out of view we continued on.

When I just thought to look it up, I found it might be a rare sighting. Bob
Morse reports fewer that five records in Coastal Washington. The sun was
rather bright, but everything about the bird fits Sibley's illustration,
including the black tail and the black through the eye. It dipped its tail,
and I think the remaining coloration matched. I'd be surprised if I'm wrong.

The bird was in the drift, on the beach, and up above the beach (low bank).
It was a few hundred feet toward town (Pt. Hudson) from the trail that leads
up to Chetzemoka Park.
