Subject: Llama Lake Sightings (Sammamish, King Co.)

It was a pretty active day at Llama Lake yesterday (3/21). Much like
everybody else, the day was brightened with quite a few signs of spring.
Our best bird was a TURKEY VULTURE, which took his time soaring north above
the lake. Plus, we had a few small groups of VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS
occasionally pass through, flying quite high. The other new spring event
was a singing WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW. For some reason, White-crowned
Sparrows leave the area around the lake in winter, so this was our first
sighting of them since October. We saw 26 species at the lake yesterday,
and our year list is at 44 species.

Good Migrations,
