On Sunday, the resident pair that formerly nested in the small woodlot behind my home (prior to the clearcut and housing development now going on..), the male was calling periodically throughout the day. I also observed the female flying around, checking out my birdfeeder. Cooper's Hawks are late nesters, though they should be checking out nesting sites now, and establishing pair bonds.
