After missing seeing Sandhill Cranes in Spokane County
for the last couple of years, I finally connected with
them today. There were at least 150 cranes in the
extensive flooded grassy fields along Drumheller Road
in western Spokane County (DL Pg. 72, A2).

Rather than risk disturbing these magnificent birds, I
remained in my rig and enjoyed wonderful leisurely
views. There were quite few cranes exhibiting some
pre-nuptial pogo dancing antics. Marvelous!

In route to the crane spot, I ran across four female
Mountain Bluebirds along a fenceline on Harrison Road.
On Sunday, our pair of Western Bluebirds returned to
their favorite bird box in our backyard.
