HI:
The first thing I learned when compiling a checklist (in my case for
Bainbridge Island) is that the order that the birds listed on it is NOT
CARVED in stone! Checklists change over time as new info. on taxonomy is
brought forth. I recently got a copy of 3rd (1910) edition of the AOU
checklist and first birds listed are the Auks (Alcidae). Remember the only
constant in life and checklists is change!
