Hi All -

With the current focus in biology on phylogenetics the current
classification system (kingdom, phylum, class, order, etc. for animal kingdom)
may be replaced at some point with the "PhyloCode" concept. Phylogenetics is
concerned with looking at evolutionary relationships among species and it is
generally accepted that our current system does not do this very well. For
more information see: http://www.ohiou.edu/phylocode/. Of course changes
like this take many years so it is unlikely that this will affect most of us
in our lifetime (so we probably don't have to worry about converting our
lifelists to phylocode nomenclature!).

thanks, Charles.
