All this talk of bobcats reminds me of last October when a friend and I were
out in the foothills north of Elma. I spotted a large cat down in the
bottom of a clearcut that was working a kill. My gut told me it was a
cougar just because of the sure size of the cat. It appeared to be about
the same size of the deer that it was eating. I called my friend over and
we watched the cat for almost a hour. After looking at it and noticing the
spots and short tail, we decided it was a large bobcat. Seeing the bobcat
was a first for me. I was really surprised that it would be out in broad
daylight on its kill. I will never forget that moment in time.
