It's time to renew our Vehicle Use Permits, so I thought that, this
year, I would take advantage of the program mentioned by several people
last time around, the Conservation Patron Donation. When I sent in my
donation, however, I learned that this program has been replaced by a
similar program called the Watchable Wildlife Decal.

The Watchable Wildlife Decal is a new, "more robust" program aimed at
the same population of wildlife watchers. For a donation of $30,
participants will get a decal, a Vehicle Use Permit, a hanger (I'm not
sure what this is for, exactly), some Watchable Wildlife educational
materials, and a DFW periodical. The decals will be available on-line
at the DFW website, by phone, and at all the usual licensing outlets.
According to the licensing representative I spoke to today, the actual
decals won't be available until around April 15, but you may purchase
one directly from the DFW License Division by phone or regular mail
before that date (addresses and phone numbers are on the website). You
will get your Vehicle Use Permit right away, and the rest of the
materials will be sent later.
