This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Rare Bird Alert for
Sunday, March 28, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with

The featured bird is NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH.


Sightings for March 28

The MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was seen again at Centennial Beach in
Boundary Bay Regional Park, Delta, near the high tower and sand dune
area. Two WESTERN MEADOWLARKS were also seen here.

The ROCK SANDPIPER was at Lighthouse Marine Park, Point Roberts,
in the company of BLACK TURNSTONES. Today, it was seen at 4 PM
in front of the lighthouse.

The WESTERN SCRUB-JAY continues at 4126 River Road in Delta.
It came to the feeder at 6:10 am today.

The BLUE JAY was seen along Dyke Road west of No. 5 Road in
Richmond at 6:45 am.

At Iona Island in Richmond, an EARED GREBE was seen on the south
side of the south jetty.

Also at Iona, a PILEATED WOODPECKER made a brief appearance.

The NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was not seen today at Alaksen.


Sightings for March 27

A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was banded at 9:45 am, at the Alaksen
National Wildlife Area in Delta.

At Blackie Spit in Surrey, 1 RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, 1 SAVANNAH
SPARROW, and 3 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen.


There were no reports for March 26.


Sightings for March 25

Two BAND-TAILED PIGEONS were seen at Beach Grove in Delta.


Sightings for March 24

A female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was seen today at Centennial Beach,
Boundary Bay Regional Park, Delta. It was seen near the gravel
parking lot and high tower. Also here were 2 WESTERN
MEADOWLARKS.

At Serpentine Fen in Surrey, a CLIFF SWALLOW was seen.


Sightings for March 23

The ROCK SANDPIPER was seen at Lighthouse Marine Park, Pt. Roberts.

An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen at Beach Grove in Delta.

Four TURKEY VULTURES were seen in overflight south of Fraser
Highway and 168th Street, Surrey.


Sightings for March 22

The ROCK SANDPIPER was seen at Lighthouse Marine Park,
Point Roberts, just north of the boat launch. At 4 PM, it flew off
toward the Tsawwassen ferry terminal with 25 BLACK TURNSTONES.


Sightings for March 21

The ROCK SANDPIPER was seen at the south end of the marina at
Point Roberts with BLACK TURNSTONES. From Lighthouse Marine
Park, a RHINOCEROS AUKLET was seen. Along the Lily Point trail
were 2 HUTTON?S VIREOS and a TOWNSEND?S WARBLER.

The GYRFALCON was seen on the Boundary Bay dyke in Delta
between 104th and 112th Streets. Also, at the foot of 112th Street, a
EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was seen.

At Pitt Meadows, 3 SANDHILL CRANES were sighted along Rannie
Road north of McNeill Road. Two CINNAMON TEAL were seen in a
slough south of the entrance to Swan-E-Set Golf Course.

The NORTHERN SHRIKE continues at Boundary Bay Regional Park,
Delta.

At Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver, were 3 BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS on the Grebe Islets, and a singing
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER near the lighthouse. Two more BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS were present at the mouth of Cypress Creek, at the
foot of Stearman Ave. in West Vancouver. A singing ANNA?S
HUMMINGBIRD was seen at 4957 Marine Drive, West Vancouver.
