Hi Tweeters,

This afternoon we observed a beautiful Loggerhead Shrike hawking
insects between the two ponds in the middle of the fill. After close
up views for about a half and hour, between 2 and 3 PM, it flew to the
west. Its favorite perch seemed to be on a small tree surrounded be
chicken wire about 4 feet above the meadow. While perched, the shrike
was dive bombed by Barn Swallows, which were circling overhead. It was
in extremely bright plumage, looking like the twin of the LOSH photos
taken near Satsop, posted by Ruth and Patrick Sullivan on March 27.
The weather was sunny, 11? C, with a slight breeze from the north.

We also confirmed that most of the turtles basking on logs in the marsh
were Red-Eared Sliders. Thanks to Jason Paulios for that ID. However,
It appears that there are other species present, which we could not ID.
