We have a metal roof and gutters and the flickers wake me up at dawn. I just have to go out and chase them away and they are easily freightened. They only seem to do this behavior in the early morning and do not return during the day. Removing the roof and gutters is not an option. I am not sure if they are damaging them though.

It's true. Ours use the gutters.

Advice? Get rid of anything made of metal on the outside of your house I guess. :)

Hi Tweets,

the message below was forwarded to me by a colleague. I've heard of flickers driving people crazy drumming on metal chimneys during courting, but this seems rather ridiculous. Do any of you have any experience with this and/or advice for Ellen?

Thanks,
Katie

Hello,
I can't find the exact person to contact concerning this problem. My home is under daily seige by North American Flickers. We have 40 small holes, which we have filled as soon as discovered, and 4 major holes that we have covered with sheet metal and painted to match the cedar siding. We have removed our National Geo Bird Feeders and Suet feeders.

Please refer me your expert(s) on this problem.

Thanks for your time.
