First time I've seen this. The feeder hangs outside of a second-story
window. The bird made three attempts (so far), but only landed one foot for
a split second before giving up.

A handful of Juncos, who I think of more as ground feeders, also visit.
They're a bit awkward in their approach as well. Flickers often hang from
the small feeder picking away at the un-hulled sunflower seed bits. Fun
stuff to see just outside of my "work window".
