Hello Joe and tweeters,
I love you German. You know that a birder call me Rutchen? We having many German birdbooks, but where are all the birds in Germany. If I stay a whole month in Berlin and go birding every day never I run in to any birder. My sister lives in Weidmanslust that is a area where all the people have least a 1 acre of garden with many trees. There is also a Creek what there call "AM Weiher."But all the people walk there dogs there and most people own more than one dog.Where are all the birds?
One of my birdbooks are "BIRDS of the Okanagan Valley," British Columbia.By Robert Cannings, Richard Cannings, and Sidney G.Cannings.If you love to bird in the Okanagan County this book is essential to own. This Book I believe is out of print.
I also wonder that no own mention "Mind of the Raven" by Bernd Heinrich. It got such good review.

Cheers Ruth Sullivan

OK, since we're heading steadily abroad with this list of books, here's one of my favorites:
Brehms Heimische Vogel (put an umlaut above the 'o').

I love to thumb through this book, not only to practice my German but also to reminisce about those wonderful days spent with Baumschwalbes, Grosser Buntspechts, and Goldenregenpfeifers, to name but a few. Ach, those were the days, liebchen!
