Ryan Shaw and I made just a couple stops while dodging big thunderstorms
around Orting and Alderton. The weather indeed put a damper on the
afternoon's plans, but we did have one productive stop. At the Riverside
Disc Golf course the cottonwoods bordering the Puyallup River were stuffed
with birds.

Rufous Hummingbird (1)
Pacific-slope Flycatcher (7)
Warbling Vireo (20+)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (1)
Swainson's Thrush (1)
Cedar Waxwing (5)
Orange-crowned Warbler (1)
Yellow Warbler (1)
Wilson's Warbler (6)
Western Tanager (15+)
Black-headed Grosbeak (2)

Earlier in the day we noticed an Arctic Skipper (VERY neat butterfly) at the
mitigation area in Alderton. Then as Ryan dropped me off at my house, we
heard a Cassin's Vireo in the firs.
