Yesterday (May 8) at 1400 we had a flock of approx. 75 White Pelicans
loafing in a tight group in the shallows of the Yakima River near the south
end of Yakima Canyon, right at the Kittitas-Yakima County sign. Most of the
adults had their breeding season "horn" on the tops of their bills. Be very
careful stopping and crossing the highway here. Also just south of this spot we
had a herd of 13 bighorn sheep, inc. one with a satellite collar.
