At least by my count, all of the usual summer suspects have returned to the
region, and a decent smattering of northbound shorebirds is also occurring.
Not too much in the rarity department, but here are a few good sightings.

A WHITE-FACED IBIS was spotted 5 May near Walla Walla, Walla Walla Co WA by
the Shoemakers. The bird was in a flooded field at the jct. of McDonald and
DeTour roads 5 miles west of Walla Walla. Later that day the ibis was
missing but a single ROSS'S GOOSE was seen by Mike and MerryLynn Denny.

A GODLEN-CROWNED SPARROW spent 6 May in Genesee, Latah Co ID according to
Terry and Christine Gray.

Single GREAT EGRETS were reported from Cold Springs NWR near Umatilla,
Umatilla Co OR on 8 May by Craig Corder and another was reported from Rock
Creek in Klickitat Co WA by Mike Denny.

A good bird for Mann Lake, east of Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID was a
GRASSHOPPER SPARROW spied by Keith and Marilyn Carlson on 10 May.


The BLUE JAY that persisted at the feeder of Dave Holick northeast of
Moscow, ID for over 6 months has apparently moved on. Perhaps someday Dave
will report how many bags of peanuts he went through, being the good host he
was....
