Subject: Hawaii Big Island trip report for April, May, 2004.

I have had a few people ask me about a birding guide to the big island,
Hawaii, I used the "Enjoying Birds in Hawaii" guide by H Douglas Pratt, very
informative and fairly accurate although don't expect to find Hawaiian Crows
in the wild anymore, the last pair died in or around 2003 :(

When the animals come to us,
Asking for our help,
Will we know what they are saying?

When the plants speak to us
In their delicate, beautiful language,
Will we be able to answer them?

When the planet herself
Sings to us in our dreams,
Will we be able to wake ourselves, and act?

What a wonderful report to share with us Tweeterlings. I hope to take a
trip to the Big Island sometime in the next year or so. Can you
recommend a good field guide?
