Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 13. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

Six EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES were reported May 6 near Diamond. The next day
one was in fields, and two were there May 8. Another EURASIAN COLLARED DOVE
was reported May 8 near Cape Blanco.

On May 8 an EASTERN PHOEBE was south of Sunriver. Go south on Hwy 97 from
Bend. Turn right on State Park Road, which is approx. 5-7 miles south of the
Sunriver Cutoff. Continue about a mile (maybe less) to the bridge over the
Little Deschutes River. The bird is hanging out near the bridge.
On May 8 a HOODED ORIOLE was at Wapinitia near Maupin. Another was in
Redmond May 9. A female GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was in Fields May 8. The next
day a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, a MOCKINGBIRD, and a PLUMBEOUS VIREO were in
fields.

Heavy migrations during the week brought conspicuous movements of WESTERN
KINGBIRDS, WESTERN TANAGERS, SWAINSON?S THRUSHES, and LAZULI BUNTINGS.
Fifteen WESTERN KINGBIRDS were at Cape Blanco May 5. On May 12 six BLACK
SWIFTS were at New River, south of Bandon. On May 8 three LONG-BILLED
CURLEWS and a TATTLER were at Bandon.

On May 10 a DUSKY FLYCATCHER was at Pittock mansion in Portland. Two
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were at the Fernhill wetlands May 6. On May 11 an
ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was along Cantrell Road west of Eugene.

On May 8 a GREEN HERON was at the mouth of the Deschutes River. That day a
WHITE PELICAN was flying near Grass Valley, perhaps a stray from the flock
that set down in Bend during the week. A COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD was in Bend May
8. The TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD colony along I84 near Stanfield was back by May
8.

That?s it for this week.
