Tweeters,
Too much paycheck work and travel kept me away from the river for over a week. (That'll continue for the next couple of weeks, with the exception of an upcoming Seattle Audubon Soc. field trip to the lower Duwamish.) Highlight today: Two SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were feeding on the mudflat on the eastern side of the goose-exclusion area. These were the first I've seen since July 9, 2003.

The female OSPREY at Hamm Creek is still tight on the nest.

Birds seen during this scan include the following:
Canada Goose (5 adults and 5 goslings)
Double-crested Cormorant
Great Blue Heron
Osprey (only saw the female)
Red-tailed Hawk (soaring over Delridge to the south of SR 599)
Spotted Sandpiper (2)
Glaucous-winged Gull
Rock Pigeon (14)
American Crow (2)
Violet-green Swallow (3)
Bushtit
Bewick's Wren
European Starling (5)
Song Sparrow (2)
Red-winged Blackbird (4; three females, two of which were feeding and flying back to the cattails; could be young?)
House Finch (2)

May all your birds be identified,

Denis DeSilvis
